Repudio y tristeza ha causado en la comunidad hispana el rechazo del Senado de Estados Unidos para llevar a cabo una reforma migratoria que beneficiaría a más de doce millones de indocumentados que radican en este país. Isabel García [Consejera del IME 2003-2005], coordinadora de la Coalición de Derechos Humanos en Pro de los Inmigrantes en Arizona, señaló que es triste que los senadores de este país se hayan dejado influenciar por las organizaciones ultraderechistas y antiinmigrantes a lo largo de estas últimas semanas de debate.

QUIEREN CESE DEL FLUJO MIGRATORIO / NUEVO EXCELSIOR
Las reformas migratorias podrían ser aprobadas por el Senado estadunidense hasta que cese el flujo de inmigrantes indocumentados, estimó ayer el representante del gobierno de Washington en Honduras, Charles Ford. Al reiterar que el tema será discutido de nuevo hasta 2009, el embajador opinó que las reformas que se pretendían aprobar no prosperaron porque los estadunidenses no tienen garantías que cesará el flujo de inmigrantes.

CULPAN DE CRIMEN EN IRAK A SOLDADO DE ORIGEN MEXICANO / EL UNIVERSAL
Dos soldados estadounidenses, uno de ellos hijo de una inmigrante mexicana, fueron acusados del homicidio premeditado de tres iraquíes, anunció ayer el Ejército de Estados Unidos, en un día en que la violencia en el país árabe dejó un saldo de 56 iraquíes muertos. Las acusaciones contra los soldados estadounidenses surgieron de tres incidentes diferentes sucedidos entre abril y junio en la población de Iskandariya, al sur de Bagdad, dijo el Ejército en un comunicado. La fuerza castrense lanzó una investigación después de que otros soldados reportaron los presuntos crímenes a las autoridades.
